AMDA LA PRODUCTION

ABOUT THE PLAY/MUSICAL/DANCE PRODUCTIONS
Each semester, AMDA mounts fully-produced theatrical productions focused on each performing discipline: Acting, Music Theatre, and Dance. All students, regardless of semester level or registered program, are eligible and encouraged to audition. Each production holds a series of auditions open to the entire student population. The cast is chosen by the Show Director, supported by Department Chairs and/or Senior Performance Staff. Once cast, professional artistic team members are added to the process; these include any/all of the following: Director, Choreographer, Musical Director, Stage Manager, Lighting Designer, Sound Designer and Costume Designer. The Team works together creating and incorporating design elements to help fortify the environmental world in which the production’s characters exist. Each production’s process reflects professional industry-standard practices while also providing students an opportunity to perform sustained characters within a fully realized theatrical production. Whether it is through well-established published works (customarily selected for the plays and musicals) or through the creation of original works in a variety of styles (customarily created by faculty, guest, alumni, or sometimes student choreographers for Dance Theatre Concerts) AMDA’s productions reflect a relevance and importance to our students’ artistic and educational exploration. Each production connects performer with audience through compelling and relatable stories and characters.
AMDA College of the Performing Arts is an equal access, equal opportunity institution. If you have accommodation needs or questions, please contact Hannah Enenbach, Director of Accessibility Services and ADA Coordinator, at henenbach@amda.edu or call 646-823-5297 at least 7 days prior to the event.
